More Than Life

Ever wondered what is life? Is it meaningless? Is it meaningful? Is it something you just live once through and never have to look back at it again? Life is like a picture with a thousand words. You can never be sure what life is until it is over. Regrets are often, but what is done, is done.

Before I go on, listen and close your eyes. Pay attention to nothing but the lyrics. If it helps, here it is.

More Than Life

Stand by everything You said
Stand by the promises we made
Let go of everything I've done
I'll run into Your open arms
And all I know

Chorus:
I love You more than life
I love You more than life

Fall back on everything You've done
Fall back on everlasting arms
When all the world is swept away
You are all the things I need
You're the air I breathe

How can it be
You were the one on the cross
Lifted for all our shame?
How can it be
The scars in Your hands are for me?
You are the king of all

In life, there will be times where you'll have to take a big step to make a change in your life.

I made that change in FBC Youth Camp. What change? A change in priorities.

I don't know about you, but I know a lot of times where I wished I was first in something, always me me me. But now, I'm trying my best to put God first above all. After all, he has done so much, gave me life and plenty of other stuff like the whole world and universe.

It's time to place Him at where He belongs, at the top of everything.

Make the change. The choice is yours.

Oceans Will Part

If my heart has grown cold,
There Your love will unfold;
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand.
When I’m blind to my way,
There Your Spirit will pray;
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand,
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand.

Oceans will part; nations come
At the whisper of Your call.
Hope will rise; glory shown.
In my life, Your will be done.

Present suffering may pass,
Lord, Your mercy will last;
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand.
And my heart will find praise,
I’ll delight in Your way,
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand,
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand.

Oceans will part; nations come
At the whisper of Your call.
Hope will rise; glory shown.
In my life, Your will be done.

Hillsong United/Mighty To Save
Oceans Will Part

5th Of November.

The time has come. I never really intended for it to be anything, but it seems like on this very date, it is a very important one too.

Drill Badge classes begin TODAY!

Anyway, it's been a while since I've blogged, but not many noticed anyway. The guitar that I blogged about is also being handed back to me on the 5th of November, hopefully the fix will be permanent and will last. The best thing about it is, it cost me less than RM50! Including new strings, nuts and other stuff.

It's funny how you find things just come together like a great big giant jigsaw puzzle, sometimes you expect it, sometimes you don't. Sometimes there are pieces that doesn't fit in the right spot, like the way you wanted it to. Sometimes you get so impatient, you might take a hammer and try to hammer it in place, but that will leave a very ugly mark.

Life is very much like that. So far, everything seems to be fitting in perfectly. Whoopedee doo.

I guess some people would just say that anything good that comes into their lives would be the work of God. Anything bad happen would be the work of the devil or his/her own self.

Sometimes it just leads to so many questions that I don't want to be bothered anymore. I think, could it be me? Could it be that God is punishing me for the things I've done? Why is this happening to me? Why?

I would be lying if I said i wasn't ignoring God. I know the problem, I know I always find excuses, I know he knows everything, but then why does He need us to say if He knows everything? Oh please help me find a way to approach You. Something to guide me at all times. Root me back into your ways Lord. I really want You back into my life. May this be a reminder to me in the present as well as the future.

I want you to take away my impure deeds and thoughts and grant me anew. Things I've done, things I've said, things I never wanted to happen, please take it all away.

May you watch over your sheep and guide the stray. Never again will I be lost.

Thank you Lord. You deserve so much more.

8 things for my perfect lover (Part 1 of 8)

Since I haven't thought much about it, and I just thought about one specific thing just now, might as well just blog it out.

1. Comfortable around each other.

No matter what or anything happens, both parties can be comfortable to talk/comfort each other in times of joy and pain. Just like best friends, doing things together. =)

Thats for 1 out of 8.

1st Verse:
I'm not turning it down,
Neither will I accept it.
You told me the answer
And I didn't wanna hear it

I can say I do,
but gradually, these feelings,
are going to just fade away.
Will you just leave me in the end?

I keep telling myself things would be alright.

Pre Chorus:
If you just took the time to think,
maybe it'll become clear.
But for now baby,
I'm leaving you. (maybe forever)

Chorus:
Time to face the music,
To you I give
A blood dept paid in full
Stop trying to make me your fool
Chucked aside and died
Thats what I am.

I'm into song composing now. =D

Whoo.

"Matt: Whoa, got ipod liao!"
"
Julian: Dude, it's a Zen Micro!"
"
Matt: Same thing right?"
"Julian: =.='' "

Yes indeedy. I've gotten my MP3 player, the Creative Zen Micro. What is that? What happened to the Neeon? The strangest things happen, everywhere I go, there isn't a Neeon. Conspiracy? XD
Anyway, it's really great, not as slick as the ipod I must say, but it's still managable.

6 Gigs worth of space+ Music Library (96 AlbumsX1067 songs) + 1 Additional Battery = Lots and lots of fun. =D

Here is the list of what it can do:
-Music Playback
-Recording (quality quite good, but never put mike near any sound.)
-FM Radio
-Date, Time & Alarm
-Organizers
-Storage System (Store anything ranging to 4 Gigs)
-Removable batteries (Means more playtime)

Now, the bad:
-Thick, quite heavy.
-scratches easily (not as bad as a nano)
-sometimes recording too long may jam
-Unresponsive to shutting off (happened to me once)
-Headphones given might cause discomfort

Thats about all, I'd recommend it to people who can't live without their whole music library.

Finally mine. =)

I would like to thank Thomas Chin for his assistance in helping me search for the cheapest price. ;)

So here I sit looking at the traffic lights
The red extinguishes I hope that the green ignites
I want to run away I want to ditch my life
Cause all of my mistakes keep me awake at night

Jon & SamO studying for Safety Test

And as many of you would know, last Saturday was the Quiksilver Revolution Tour, where Click 5 would be performing. I had BB and Safety Test altogether in that exact day, so I wasn't able to watch the Skateboarding action and stuff like that. So reached there at 7.20+, I was supposed to meet up with a few school friends of mine, as well as a few others. But heck, I called and callied like gila and not even one picked up their cellphones, I only found out all of them put their phones in the locker.

Thank God that Aileen called me! If not it would be such a waste. =D
Seems like everyone has heading to the beach area, where The bands were performing and many people were just swimming around. The night of fun was about to be ruined by my stupidity, of all things I had to lose, I had to lose my glasses. I fell into the water, glasses just slipped off, and God knows where it went. >.>

Unfortunately I didn't find it, so I had to 'swim' around almost blind. It was only just minutes till I ran into Rachel Chang and her 'gang'. We share many things in common, especially the one where we can't find our friends we are supposed to meet up with. XD

So it was about time Click 5 was going to perform, the crowd was getting pretty excited, but before all that, the surfer dudes came in! Lifeguards cleared out most of the inner parts of the pool for the surfers to well, surf. Their surfboards were towed around by a jetski, but remember, I lost my freggin glasses, can't see at all. Aileen was there to be my 'eyes', discribing the things, the wipeout, and the stunts la. Later, a few people from quiksilver came around with the surfers to give out some freebies. Flip-flops, Hats, Keychains. I didn't get one. Bengang-nya!

Finally, The Click 5 was all ready to perform, wearing their traditional suits for every performace.

[Due to unforseen circumstances, I was unable to watch or hear the click five perform.]

But I did get a picture of it.

The Click Five @ Sunway

From what my friends were mentioning, they too were giving stuff away.

"Here's a platinum coated guitar pick!" - Joe Guese

I think the drummer also threw his drumsticks.

Aileen, just messin around =)

Aileen & me

Oh well. There goes another day. =)

And I so hate consequences
And running from you is what my best defense is
Consequences
God, don't make me face up to this
And I so hate consequences
And running from you is what my best defense is
Cause I know that I let you down
And I don't want to deal with that

Other events? FlyFm came stopping by near our school to give away freebies! =D
No freggin fair. Serenie won The All-American Rejects Move Along album. >.>

She borrowed it to me anyway =D TQ!

For our Christian Fellowship, we deceided to raise some funds so tht we could conduct more things like camps in future. Here are some photos of us doing business with the Form 1s and Form 2s.

Our Mascot, Mohawk Hawk! XD

On other things, I bought a badge from Shra in Sri Aman similar to the Bon Jovi album cover, 'Have A Nice Day.' I think I'll call it Bob. =)

Hey Kids! Say hi to Bob!

When I got tired of running from you
I stopped right there to catch my breath
There your words they caught my ears

You said, 'I miss you son. Come home.'

And my sins, they watched me leave

And in my heart I so believed

The love you felt for me was mine
The love I'd wished for all this time
And when the doors were closed

I heard no I told so's

I said the words I knew you knew

Oh God, Oh God I needed you

Stumbled upon something that might be a little disturbing, but it's true we should be concentrating more on these kind of things rather than useless stuff.

Why The Pete the Porno Puppet Campaign?

The sad truth is that with easy access to pornography, children are more susceptible to obtaining it. As adults we have a responsibility to protect children and do whatever we can to make sure pornography does not end up in the hands of kids. XXXchurch's challenge to parents is to really think about what you are doing. Are you helping this problem or are you contributing to it? Do you have pornography in your house? Do you have porn on your computer, in your drawers, or playing on your TV? Do you really think your kids won't find it? XXXchurch is committed to safeguarding minors and are calling upon parents and adults to get rid of your porn stash. Your adult product has become your kid's problem so say NO to pornography for Pete's sake! PORN PRODUCER "Jimmy D" has filmed, edited, and produced this commercial for free.

Bored? Try Crapping.

"Sa-lai-va!" - Terianne

If teachers aren't gonna come to our class and teach, they might as well just let us bring our cell phones so we don't die of boredom in the process.

It's been 3 whole straight days with either one or more subject that spells a-b-s-e-n-t teachers, which also means, 'HUZZAH! Lets toss each others pencil boxes and stack them in a domino type way to ease our boredom!'. If only that would happen. =p Instead, just 4 of my closest buddies sat together and just sang songs. Ahh, wonder what would I do without you guys. My other mates decided to have some fun with the fan, spending their time throwing papers or other interesting explody things and seeing them being destroyed by the fan. We're just lucky not to destroy the fan, or risk the fan having it's revenge on us and slicing us all. x_X

And whats more fun than a friendly duel of fencing?! Anything can be used for fencing, from umbrellas to broomsticks (minus the broom), and an excellent dueling place would be just outside the classrooms in the corridor, 2 way street, what fun! I've gotten beat by a freggin umbrella. XD

Once again, the famous NIE competition is back, which also means, "crappy, cheesy work = free pizza", open to Form 1 - 5. This year I think they are into posters, haven't really gotten the details right, but anyway, our english teacher continued with a lecture on our school 'tradition', rumbling, Which also means, beating birthday boys senseless on their birthdays.

............

Our English teacher wants us to start a campaign to discourage this rumbling crap.
And make posters. For NIE.
WTF? I don't blame her. But why that topic? It might cause a nationwide ruckus or something.

At least we can still throw water on them. =D

I would like to thank a very special someone, whom invited me along to the Quiksilver Revolution Tour 2006! A very big thank you to you-know-who-you-are. =D

Events Include:
Surfing, skating and live music – Quiksilver’s Revolution tour has it all! In a first for Southeast Asia, Quiksilver, in conjunction with MTV and Hotlinks, will be transforming Sunway Lagoon’s wavepool and surrounding theme park into a veritable surf, skate and musical extravaganza.

Three of the world’s best surfers : –
Dane Reynolds (from Ventura County, California, USA),
Ry Craike (Kalbarri, West Australia) and
Julian Wilson (Coolum, Queensland, Australia)

– will be whipped into waves in the pool with the aid of 1200 cc jetskis.

Five of the world’s best skateboarders : -
Sascha Mueller (Germany),
Jean Postec (France),
James Kennedy,
Josh Roullion and
Shane “Nugget” O’Neill (all Australia)

– will tear it up on a specially constructed 14’ _” foot vert ramp, a street course and mini ramp.

While “The Click Five” (USA) will play live, bringing the whole event together and thousands of spectators to their feet with their unique blend of ‘new school power pop’!

More interesting stuff.

These songs are played by digital notes from Silbelius Scorch, which also requires you to download their toolbar to view and listen to the music. It's adware free. Download Here.

Boys Brigade Conference 2003 (Fanfare)

This fanfare for Band, Fanfare Team and Traditional British Army-style Corps of Drums was composed to be the fanfare at this years National Brigade Council Beating Retreat at the Scottish Police College, Tulliallan.

The Boys' Brigade Centenary (1982)

This short march was written for the 4th Port Glasgow Company Band to commemorate the Boys' Brigade Centenary in 1983. It was written specifically for the instrumentation available namely bE Cavalry (valve-less) trumpets and bell-lyres. Some harmonies have been modified slightly from the original.

[This one here is my favourite.]
The Boys Brigade March on Ystad (2003)

During the summer of 2003, the Boys Brigade in Scotland were invited to participate in the Ystad International Military Tattoo, in Sweden. This piece was composed to commemorate this event. The Senior Pipe Major was Bob Lawson and the Senior Bugle Major was Donald McLaren.

And when you think the 18th Singapore BB Company did well, check out the 31st Singapore BB Company!

No videos though. But just looking through their achievements, you can tell they are pretty good.

I've been thinking for quite a while about getting an MP3 player, and by doing a little research, I've come down to the two of the best mp3 players within my budget.

Creative Zen Neeon 5 GIGs (RM 700+)

VS

iPod Nano 4 GIGs (RM 1'000+)

Creative Zen Neeon
Pros:
1. costs way cheaper than ipod.
2. capacity 1 gig more than ipod can offer.
3. easy drag and drop feature.
4. 18 hour battery life on a single charge.

Cons:
1. ipod beats it in style.
2. unable to automatically download RSS podcasts.
3. possibly annoying wheel/button.
4. not many accessories.

iPod Nano
Pros:
1. sleek and stylish.
2. cool user interface.
3. amazing amount of ipod accessories.
4. enables RSS podcasting!

Cons:
1. extremely expensive compared to the Neeon
2. scratches easily.
3. 4 gig Ipod costs more than 5 gig Neeon (by RM 300-400?)
4. needs an accessory to enable FM Tuning. (iTrip, anyone?)
5. might need iTunes to transfer songs?
6. 14 hour battery life on a single charge.

Still thinking. Also looking for good headphones soon. =D

Leadership

What is leadership? Thats the question we all ask. Is it yelling at your lower ranks, browbeating them until they got things right? Is it just something for you to achieve? Or even plainly to abuse others with your leadership.

This is something we come to understand. Leadership is a heavy responsibility, and should not be simply used to abuse others.

1. Treat your followers with respect. Sound simple? Well, it is. Respect is a two-way street. You can order your followers to show you customs and courtesies, but you cannot demand voluntary respect. As a young Lieutenant, Chesty commanded the Marine Corps Silent Drill Team. It had been years since the Marine Corps had won an inter-service drill competition. Private Bob Norrish, a member of the team, had an interesting observation to share: “Yet, somehow, though he was hard as nails, he could be friendly with us like no officer we’d ever seen. We gave him all we had.” Think about those two sentences for a moment. Chesty made a distinction between discipline and kindness, and his Marines noticed it. He worked them hard – real hard. But he was still kind to them. Because of that, his Marines were willing to work hard out of respect for their Commander.

C/2d Lt Jackie Briski, CAP - cadetstuff.org

If your people don't know better - that is, if they don't know how to do something right or forgot the correct way to do it - yelling at them isn't helping because they already feel badly about being wrong. Your people don't want to make mistakes, but mistakes sometimes happen to the best of us. In this case, the solution is not to yell, but to remind them what needs to be done, how to do it and why it's important.

Most of the time, people just need a reminder of what is expected and then a chance to try it again. If you yell at them for making an honest mistake, you'll only make them feel stupid and useless. This will make them resent and dislike you; after all, who enjoys being around or working for someone who makes them feel stupid and useless?

Sometimes people's mistakes will be your fault, not theirs. If you don't train them properly or don't give them complete information on what is expected of them, how can you yell at them for failing? The fault is yours - and your people will know that as well.

What good does it do to yell at someone who doesn't care to do the right thing? If he doesn't care enough about what he's supposed to do in the first place, then he sure doesn't care about your yelling. In fact, your taking the time to yell at him may be giving him a thrill. You're certainly giving him a lot of attention, aren't you?

There are times when yelling is appropriate, but mostly those times are when you want to get someone's attention when their mind is wandering; for instance, if Cadet Jones is staring at the birds during drill. But this is merely to get his attention so that you can explain his mistakes in a normal tone and get on with the job at hand.

Yelling at people for their mistakes is for bullies, not for leaders.

Shawn Stanford - cadetstuff.org

Let the BB2SJ motto be a reminder in all of this.

One Body, Many Parts.

A message brought to you by Big Tent Revival.

Choose Life
by Big Tent Revival

[Verse]
A Choice, is set before you now
Living or dying
Blessing or cursing

And now, the time has come around
To turn from your fighting
and rest in his mercy

[Chorus]
Choose Life
That you might live
The life that he give
He gives you forever

Choose Life
The way that is true
From the one who chose you
Your Father in heaven
Choose Life.

[Verse 2]
Trust, the Lord with all your heart
With all of your soul
And all of your being

Hold on,
Listen and Obey
Surrender your life
Into his keeping.

[Chorus]

[Verse 3]
And the weight you're under
Will be lifted away
And the world will wonder
'What happened here today?'
And you'll stand right there and say:

[Chorus]

Choose Life. =)

Choices, just great.

Right from wrong, wrong from right, how do you tell the difference? Some say concience, some say common sense. Some things just seem right, but results in catastrophy.

Which leads to crapping about having to choose between two things I adore the most.
1. Boys' Brigade
2. Christian Fellowship (School)

Both has events I dearly want to go, but unfortunately, clashed. BB, Basic NCO Training School, CF, Annual Camp.

Hard desision to make.

According to my time, roughly another 12 hours before I go back to school and end my chinese new year mood. There goes the money season.

Sometimes you just can't get what you want, or things come and goes, comes with a deal that you wouldn't like at all. It's about choosing. I chose to be an arrogant boy and chose not to accept my mistake in rushing certain things, only after I began to regret. Sometimes I just thought I chose the right thing, without getting other information from others, this just shows how idiotic I am, or sometimes people can be when rushing into things.

What item am I talking about?

A stupid electric guitar.

I was headstrong and proud,
at the front of the line for the card-carrying, highbrowed.
With both eyes fastened tight, yet unscarred from the fight.
Running at full tilt, my sword pulled from its hilt.
It's funny how these things can slip away,
our frail deeds, the last will wave good-bye.
It's funny how the hope will bleed away,
the citadels we build and fortify.
Good-Bye.

In bitter tears.
Can't believe I've sunk this low
As I walk the plankton
Inner sanctum.
Got outta Dodge,
Sailed on a bon-less
Bon voyage.
You said North,
I headed South.
Tossed overboard.
Good Lord, that's a really large mouth...

I'm sleeping with fishes here,
In the belly of the whale.
I'm highly nutritious here,
In the belly of the whale.
Bad food, lousy atmosphere.
I don't wanna bellyache.
How long is this gonna take?

Woke up this morning kinda blue,
Thinking through that age-old question:
How to exit a whale's digestion?
It might behoove me to be heaved.
Head out like a human comet.
Hmmm... i wonder what rhyme with comet.

I'm sleeping with fishes here,
In the belly of the whale.
I'm highly nutritious here,
In the belly of the whale.
I'm ready to reappear.
I don't wanna bellyache.
Lord, how long's this gonna take?

End times, they come rolling around.
Enzymes, they come breaking us down to the core.
The good Lord grants we all get a second chance.

I'm one of the dishes here,
In the belly of the whale.
They say I'm delicious here,
In the belly of the whale.
Lord, please make him chuck it all.
It's a gut call
In the belly of the whale.

I'm in the belly of the whale.
In the belly of the whale.
I'm in the belly.
In the belly of the whale.
I'm in the belly of the whale.
In the belly of the whale.
I'm in the belly...

In the belly of the whale
In an underwater jail
It's a tight squeeze.
It's a-gettin' to me,
But it's roomier
Than the tail.
Hey, sailor,
Got my flow free
Like a salmon to the sea
From the L.A. Symphony.
I'm a paddleboat
Paddlin' in their wake,
A fake free-styler,
But my unemployment pays.
I'm avoiding cliches
Like "whale of a tale" say
Or "you can't keep
A good man down,"
'Cause you can
And I've been there, man.
But I've been expectorated.
I'm elated!
I'm free like Willie!
Happy Day!
Oops,
That's a bit of a cliche.

In the belly...

Opening another perspective

thats right. in this world there are millions of perspective that takes place, some so big, that could cause wars and crap. For now, I stumbled upon multiple perspectives on christianity. And honestly I didn't think it would be very complicated and so-oh-interesting. Before this can be continued, if you're easily offended by vugal words and things against christianity, not really against but still offensive.(if there isn't any negative points, what's there to improve?)

I have nothing against the writers of the links posted, just what they wrote has got me to think about things.

As for you readers, please do not flame them about these things.

First Link.

[Plainly explaining about what christianity should be in his eyes, as he is a christian himself.]

As what he said, Christianity shouldn't be about the church, music, and all the other stuff. As stated in the bible, it should be a firm and established relationship with God, church, music is about spreading the gospel, nothing more. Pastors are there to help if in need, and to elaborate more on christianity.

What has got me, is christians speaking foul language/swearing. True enough, many christians have this problem of holding their tongue, as I do. The next link is in conjunction of what I'm saying.

And this reply came in.

No Name has hit the nail on the head. I don't think that his English is an issue here. You can say whatever you want, but we Christians know that we are saved through faith in Christ. I'm not picking a fight with you, and if you want to know more or debate more, feel free to ask any Christian.

Our God gave us free will, but humans abuse it. As for Christians swearing, yes, it is a sin, but no, they are not going to hell for it. You can't generalise an issue like this. Jesus did say in Matthew 15:11-20 that what comes out of a man's mouth is what shows his insides to be unclean, and that is the issue. All humans are inherantly sinful, and it takes effort to live a good and holy life. Everyone is at different stages of their spiritual journeys. Some people are such strong Christians that they really do not swear at all, and live close to God. Some others really do believe in God, but they are also so assimilated into the ways of this world that they can't help but act like the rest of the world.

I also don't think drinking is an issue here. It is the consequences of drinking that becomes an issue.

I am not justifying Christian swearing or drinking. If any of it is clearly stated as a sin in the bible (and swearing is), then all Christians have a responsibility to repent and to live holy lives that are pleasing to God. What they get in the end is between them and God, and whether they choose to repent or not. It is not for you or me to judge, because we have no right to condemn.

Nuff said. That just about explains everything I have in doubt. As said here,
[Matthew 15:11-12, what comes out of a man's mouth is what shows his insides to be unclean.] Continued

[Matthew 15:18-20, But things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man unclean. For out of the heart comes evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what make a man unclean; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him unclean.]

What I don't understand is, from the beginning, was there even swear words? Those words were created by men, completely stupid.

Talks about worship and christian based rock music

So they are against christian rock, big deal. Their loss. =)

Ok, so what I meant to say, 'rocking' for God, why is it so wrong? So from slow hymns and worship slowly began to evolve into what it is today. Rock. We are the ones who made it like this, this generation did. I wouldn't trust on anyone below the age of consent not liking rock or any other genres made today, I ask a simple question, would hymns now appeal much to the youths of today? In my opinion, majority, no. Thus, praise and worship changed, and as I said above, songs, are mainly just spreading gospel. Instruments, then and now, all are made by men. But what we really need to praise God, is something made by him, our voices. Our voices please him, we sing, we shout, and we clap. No matter what genre, as long as we praise the Lord with our voices, nothing else matters.

[Psalm 47:1-2
Clap your hands, all you nations;
shout to God with cries of joy.
How awesome is the Lord Most High,
the Great King over all the earth!]

[Psalm 92:1-5
It is good to praise the Lord
and make music to your name, O Most High,
To proclaim your love in the moring and your faithfulness at night,
to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp.
For you make me glad by your deeds, O God;
I sing for joy at your works of your hands.]

[Psalm 96:1-2
Sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, praise his name;
proclaim his salvation day after day.]

What the writer said, very correct. As christians, if you still continue to sin and not repent, no place in heaven for you.

This has just been an eye opener for me, to see what others has to say about our 'holy' attitude, but we're nothing near perfect are we? =)

I still continue to believe in christ.
