30 Hour Famine Report

I'm back, not dead, but indeed very alive, and maybe a bit tired. What can I say, sleeping in a College institute with the air-cond blowing in your face isn't much of an ideal spot to sleep. Freezing cold..>.<

Alright, first thing to say is that I really pity those who didn't know or wanted to come but didn't manage to come for the event, because you people are missing one of the greatest events of the year! Yes, there were celebrities, whole lotta fun, screaming, shouting, and a whole lot of events.

For those who didn't know what this whole entire thing is about, it's an event held annually by World Vision, and their main mission is to raise money to do projects such as helping Africans, and other people in other nations with HIV/AIDs. They are really doing an awesome job in helping others.

So yea, it started off with station games!Ooooo, station games, what are they? We were seperated into different groups of different 'missions'. There were 5, mainly for Drama, Arts & Crafts, Visual graphics (the one which I chose), Home Visitation, and I forgot the last one...XD

So after station games, we get an introduction on what, where and why World Vision was created/mission and yada yada yada. The list goes on. The 2nd theme for the famine was also for us to learn and understand more about people living with HIV/AIDs(PLWA), not to discriminate people with HIV/AIDs. So we had a few lecturers teaching us about what HIV and AIDs is, and we also saw a few video clips of Children infected with the virus, it was really touching, none the less, there are several room visitations on different topics, I managed to pick up these topics:
1. WV HOPE Initiative
2. HIV/AIDS and Drugs

The HOPE Initiative tells us about the hidden faces behind HIV/AIDs, for every person infected with the virus has a story, a lot were only children, and they got the virus from their parents, so there is nothing much to be done. So thats where World Vision comes in. They help these children to stay alive, giving them the medication they need, and also support.

HIV/AIDs and Drugs is really simple. We mainly talk about what drugs can do to us, and how HIV/AIDS are related. But one thing did get out of hand, when we're on the topic of addiction/drug, a lot of crap started to rise, from Marijuana, to Coke and Chocolates and lots more, it was really an interesting session we had.

Now it was about during the evening, thats when we had the Celebrity Showcase Program! Whooo hooo! Here are the lists of celebs that appeared at the event:

· List of personalities:
o Ashraf Daniel Sinclair (Actor – Gol & Gincu)
o Carmen Soo (international model)
o Daphne Iking (TV3 Explorace host)
o Ean Nasrun (Hitz.FM DJ)
o Gloria Ting (Ms Malaysia/World 2004/2005)
o Jay Menon (Hitz.TV VJ)
o Melissa Maureen (Actress –Ponds, Gol & Gincu)
o Wong Sze Zen (Ms Malaysia/World 2003/2004 & World Vision Malaysia Ambassador)
· List of performers:
o Altered Frequency
o Auburn
o Couple
o Fallen Leaves
o Fern
o Flatline
o Francissca Peter
o Furniture
o Juwita Suwito
o Liang
o Patrick Leong

Yes, there were a lot of things lined up for us, it was really an amazing evening, therefore it shall not be posted, so next year make sure you guys attend the event! =p

And I got my 30 Hour Famine T-Shirt Signed by Ean Nasrun, who wrongly accused me of eating a curry puff! Dude! I so did not eat a curry puff! And Liang, also accused me of the same thing, but it's cool, just sing more and we'll call it even. I also got my T-Shirt signed by Juwita Suwito, our very own Local Music Artist, I love her song, S.M.S, it's really awesome, and also managed to get Gloria Ting, Miss Malaysian 2004/2005 to sign my T-Shirt! Whooo hoooo!! XD

Late night, could not sleep, stupid air-cond was too cold....slept out on the corridor.

Next Morning, we had a Taichi Master and a Yoga Instructor for our morning exercise, we get to decide who we're gonna follow. Of course, I chose the Taichi Master. Streched here n there, with the chi here and there, no idea what the master is talking about, just followed.

Later on we were called to meet in the briefing room, where we come to do our assigned 'Missions', as stated above. So yea, stupid telecom killed the power in the main block, so the chance to mess around with photoshop in the main building was lost. (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!) But aha! The mission leaders had another plan, which was to use the materials we got our hands on, and make a "HIV/AIDs Learning Kit' or something like that. We have to take all of the knowledge we learned yesterday and cram them onto a big piece of manila card, all should be sufficient, with the pictures and everything. Time passed by, and the whole Visual Graphics Team made total of about 8-11 slides.

Every team were asked to present or talk about their mission, some teams were sent around LRT Stations, wearing a so called 'sandwich box'. On the box indicates a HIV/AIDs related message, such as: "I'm a HIV/AIDs positive, would you care to shake my hand/give me a hug?" LOL! Well, the passer-bys are not quite......responsive, ok, not on a good level. When they moved closer to some of the people, they would turn tail and run a different direction, some of them said it was quite hilarious to see them run like chickens. But some came and asked what is this event/occasion, and stuff, kinda makes me think these people are the ones who can make a difference.

Some were assigned to HIV/AIDs homes, where people/children are all HIV Positive. At first glance they wouldn't look like any sick person, they are like you and me, all strong and healthy.

By that time, quite a lot of people were already quite hungry, but not to worry, 3 more hours before the famine is over!

This time, we got our groups together, shared about what we've learned about the event, I know I've learned a lot, considering a lot of crap I've known before I attended the event.

What did I learn? I learned we should not treat those PLWAs like outcasts, they are just like any human, just like you, and me. And the idiotism of some Malaysians to be scared of PLWA, I'd say they lack knowledge, or just plain stupid.

Closing Ceremony!!! ONLY 30 MORE MINUTES TO BREAKING OF FAST! But wait, we have to do stuff, more stuff. This will be classified, cause some information can be quite embarrassing and stuff.

And finally, breaking of fast, we all rushed to the people carrying the muffin trays (YES! MUFFINS!), and yea, within seconds, most of the chocolate ones were all gone. We were also given doriyaki (those buns doremon eats), umm..yum yums? Ah well, all was well, nobody was really starving, instead, we all got to experience the excitement, and lots more. One thing I just hope is for more people to attend the event NEXT year, held at the same time, same place.

My Evil Plan To Save The World

Oh yes, doom. Impending Doom in just a few more weeks before the Vacation Bible School in our church (First Baptist Church), little kids of Kindies, Std 1 to 6, come together to give us youths and grown ups a hell of a time. Well, fun for them...hurrah.

Well, lets just move on. On the last post, I should have mentioned that the school Is GOING to get burned down, due to the occasion of exams being completed yesterday, eventually, majority of the students that actually came to school, only came to do one thing:

Light Freaking Lousy Noisy Firecrackers.

Yea, and I almost blew my leg off with one, stupid people, joined in with another big explosion. They even threw a firecracker beneath a car! If it only managed to spark the gasoline compartment.....I can see myself lying in the hospital beds. I think next week I'm just gonna bring water guns. Yeah, water guns, big, gigantic ones.

Tomorrow attending 30 Hour Famine in HELP Institute, will give a full report, right after I eat my fill and/or pass out.

And now, for your feature presentation, a daily meaningful song.

Rewind by Pillar
============================

It seems just like yesterday was the first time that I heard You
call my name
Since then, so much has changed
I'm still the same man that I was before
Knowing that I can be without anything scares me away from being
alone
Now, that I know what's going on
I can look back and see You
And I made You wait, as I turned away

If I could rewind, watch all my life
Just pass me by, I could see You
If I could rewind, I'd take back the lies
And all of those times I hurt You

I don't know if I'll ever know exactly how much that I hurt You
Knowing that hurts me everyday
If I could rewind, I would take it away
And not make You wait, and I won't walk away

I wanna take back all those lies
I wanna take back all those times
I wanna show You with my life that I'm here for You

========================

"It seems just like yesterday was the first time that I heard You
call my name
Since then, so much has changed"

As we accept God into our lives, he will slowly change our lives, mould us into a better person. But sometimes we have heard Jesus calling us to do things that we might not find quite pleasing, and we decline it.

"I'm still the same man that I was before"

IF we don't try to change ourselves to become a better person, what's the use?

"Now, that I know what's going on
I can look back and see You
And I made You wait, as I turned away

If I could rewind, watch all my life
Just pass me by, I could see You
If I could rewind, I'd take back the lies
And all of those times I hurt You"

Sometimes we spend too much time in our normal lives, and we do not have time for God, we sometimes turn our backs on him when we do not need him, and come to him only when we are in trouble.

The second verse speaks of if we could watch our lives all over again, we can see the things we done, the lies, the bad things and the things we do to hurt people. Don't sometimes you wish you could just turn back the time to make something right again? I know I sometimes do.

Gotta love these songs....=p

Joy to the world, the school burnt down...

Oh joy, how I wished it would happen....tests papers burnt to a crisp, and we don't need to sit for the examinations!!! Whooo Hoooo!! but lets face it, it's 1 in a million, it would happen, unless someone has the guts to set one block of the school on fire....

Well yesterday the tests finally ended with a big BANG, malay and indian students were outside playing with firecrackers, probably mercury, but I'm not sure, cause all I get is a deaf right ear, with a smashed up bottle, cause SOMEONE decided to play water at the end of the schoool, thus the other person tried to defend himself then squashing my bottle.....pooor bottle, I shall give a proper burial to the item that has been loyal throught the weeks.

Sejarah sucked. I barely touched the book starting from Chapter 5, and most of the questions came out on chapter 5 and above, I mean.....the teacher doesn't even come in, just gives us crap notes and he expects us to study well? WTF man, he is a TEACH-ER, note the TEACH, he is to TEACH students, instead he lies around in the disipline room, giving a special 'present' to those problem-atic students, whats more important? Canning students or teaching them?

Projects, projects, I am so doomed. I totally forgotten about the Nature Awareness Project I need to do and to make things worse the deadline is 29th of October! And yet I am the idiot who decides to add more things to the list, a Trainee for the VBS Camp in Church, the 30 Hour Famine Event held in HELP Institue. OH man, only God can save me now, give me strength!!

Alright, enough with the rants and stuff, on with life.

One thing that I noticed about this song, If We Are The Body, by Casting Crowns, is that the lyrics resembles how we do things in church, take a look at the lyrics.

If We Are The Body by Casting Crowns
======================================

It's crowded in worship today
As she slips in trying to fade into the faces
The girl's teasing laughter is carrying farther than they know
Farther than they know

But if we are the body
Why aren't His arms reaching?
Why aren't His hands healing?
Why aren't His words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren't His feet going?
Why is His love not showing them there is a way?
There is a way

A traveler is far away from home
He sheds his coat and quietly sinks into the back row
The weight of their judgemental glances
Tells him that his chances are better out on the road

Jesus payed much too high a price
For us to pick and choose who should come
And we are the body of Christ

Jesus is the way

=======================================

This song tells me many things, from how we take worship only as a part of our daily routine in church, not by meaning it and praising the Lord, we just do it because we HAVE to. It's not like that! Worshiping is by giving your all to him, sing out your hear for him, let him hear your voice! One thing that I was quite disappointed when the Form 2s'were worshiping last time is that not many were really passionate about it, maybe it's just me, I couldn't see, cause I was jumping, but why all the screaming and jumping when it comes to Camp Worship or even a Concert?!? WHY NOT IN NORMAL WORSHIP?? People laughing, talking during worship, a sign of disrespect? Come on, we all should know this.

"IF We are the Body,"

Note the IF, it's not IF we are the body, WE ARE THE BODY! We are the body of christ, which also means we are his words, hands, feet and love!

"Why aren't His arms reaching?
Why aren't His hands healing?
Why aren't His words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren't His feet going?
Why is His love not showing them there is a way?"

Why aren't we showing his love? Why aren't we doing all we can to help others? I've got a friend, who also goes to church, but constantly gets tormented in church! People bullying, in church....thats just a small part, we should reach out to those in need, during Missions Month, we talk about tribes that don't know the word of God, and bibles being translated into their languages, thats already showing that we're teaching his word. Thats a big thing, how about people in our school? People that don't know christ in school? Where is the love! Quoted from the song Where is the Love by Black Eyed Peas.

"Jesus is the way"

Yes indeed, he is the way the truth and the life.
John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Wow, this is the first time I've ranted and posted for this long a post.....and it's getting late.....hope I haven't offended anyone....this place is just for me to speak my mind....releasing tension and all that crap.

Cheerio.
